Industry and the Supply Side – Overview
This section covers data on the supply side of the economy. Historical data on input-output and supply-use tables is provided starting with the input-output table of Horrell et al. 1841 and official input-output data starting after World War 2. Historical publications are provided covering the censuses of production since 1907 and information on standard industrial classification changes (SICs). The section also includes a number studies from the Cambridge Growth Project published as part of the A Programme for Growth series edited by Sir Richard Stone.

Input-output analytical tables
The earliest input-output table produced for the UK is for the census year 1841 constructed by Sara Horrell, Jane Humphries and Martin Weale based on their 1994 article. The table is reproduced here under licence from the Economic History Review. The CSO first produced summary input-output tables for 1948, 1950 and 1954 which were published in the National Accounts Blue Books and are available in the National Accounts Articles and Periodicals section. More comprehensive tables were published for 1954 and then at various periodical intervals. Annual Input-Output Supply-Use (I-O SUT) Tables
The less-detailed I-O SUT tables have been used by ONS as part of the annual balancing process of the national accounts. These are available each year from 1992 to 2004 based on Blue Book 2006 which were based on the earlier ESA95 system of accounts and SIC03 classification of industries.

A Programme for Growth and the Cambridge Growth Project
A Programme for Growth was a series of monographs (also known as the "Green Books") edited by Sir Richard Stone at the Department of Applied Economics at Cambridge and was intended to provide a series of reports on the progress of the Cambridge Growth Project.
